Maintaining Motivation

I am essentially self-employed. I am also highly self motivated. But a lot of self-employed people are not. This article is a good starting point for the freshly minted self-employed. Jason Santa Maria?|?Maintaining Motivation

More on specialty PC's

The advent of specialty PC's has yet to really occur because the cost of a general purpose computer continues to decline by 20-30% per year. However, look for these special purpose PC's to crop up in intensive operations such as trading, motion pictures, and computation.

How many Frenchmen does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

One.
The Frenchman stands still and the rest of Europe revolves around him.

Speciality PC's

I wrote before about speciality PC's or niche PC's. Alienware is a very good example of this. They have specialized in high performance PC's for gamers. I now see that they are branching out into high performance computers for business use.

My basic premise is that I would want to buy a solution for my problem, not a general purpose computer that I then have to install software for. I'd like a machine that comes pre-configured for my needs, whatever they are.

Death toll in WWII

I was reading the latest issue of the Economist and they had a table showing the death toll by country in WWII. It really points out how relatively few people the Western Allies lost in the war compared to the Axis and Russians. It gave me a very different perspective on the war. It really shows that the war was mainly fought on the Eastern front because that is where over 80% of the deaths occured!

The top death toll was the Soviet Union with 27 million followed by Poland with 6.5, Germany at a little over 5, then all the way down to about 1.9 in Japan and the US, Britain, and France all lost about .5 million each.

Time Management for Anarchists: The Movie

People who know me know that I am obsessive about time management. I even posted an ad for Franklin Covey on this site because I admire their products so much. I attribute my ability to accomplish a lot to these basic priniciples.

Here is a remarkable little Flash movie all about time management for anarchists! Enjoy! Time Management for Anarchists: The Movie
